Date: Aug. 4
Time: 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Join the Houston Young Republicans, Texas Federation of Hispanic Republicans, Downtown Houston Pachyderm Club, and MLK Association of Texas to discuss marijuana policy in Houston and statewide.

Marijuana arrests make up a large portion of Harris County’s police time, jail space, and prosecutorial resources. Nearly a year has passed since District Attorney Devon Anderson, Police Chief McClelland, and former Sheriff Adrian Garcia introduced the “first chance intervention” program to divert first-time marijuana offenders out of the jail system. We will discuss the program’s results and potential expansion. We will also cover past and future statewide legislation regarding marijuana policy.

Speakers:
Harris County District Attorney Devon Anderson
Representative Gilbert Peña – House District 144
Sheriff of Fort Bend Troy Nehls
Marc Levin of the Texas Public Policy Institute

Location: Talento Bilingüe de Houston
333 South Jensen Drive, Houston, TX 77003
Date: Tuesday, August 4, 2015
Time: 6:30pm
